This film was a nice surprise

I read about Dawson City when it debuted at film festivals, and got a chance to watch it last night on FilmStruck. It could probably be place into the experimental/art genre, but it also works well as a historical documentary.

It’s very creative and I loved the score. To watch this without headphones or a proper sound system would be to miss out on some of its message.

I would have spent the $5 to rent it if I’d known how good it was. I had the impression it’d be a little stuffy and academic (which can be fine) but thankfully it was a unique and fascinating experience.
