Conner MacCloud, JVCD, Mike Tyson, The Hot Thai Woman Plus The French Guy

How can you go wrong with a D-to-V sequel? As a vehicle for fun, this kicks glutes. Endless scenes of torturous training, a look at GOT’s Mountain out of his armor (and with a sizable midriff), desirable women, fights (and plot: Hi, we’re the FBI, here to arrest a US citizen for killing a guy in an illegal underground fight in a foreign country where we have NO jurisdiction), plus the use of The Surfaris’ 60s surf music gem, Wipe-Out in a fight sequence set on the docks, where Our Hero kicks the asses of multiple 130-pound Thai guys who might be, at best, what Americans call yellow belts. It’s as stupid as a political convention, as profound as the CW’s prime time lineup and as deep as a puddle of urine on a convex Rock. That means it’s great fun.

Tyson was surprisingly fun in this. He was funny, self-deprecating and likable. He was also built like a rhinoceros. I think it was inspired to include an authentic American heavyweight prize fighter in a martial arts film. The producers made up for funding with brains, which I respect and admire.
