The trouble with subtitles

is it makes ordinary productions seem better than they sometimes are - that's my theory anyway. I'm reminding myself about this rule of thumb because two episodes in to this series and I'm thinking it's really good. But, apart from the fact that Miriam Leone is very beautiful and it's nice to see a series set in Italy, I cannot claim there is anything exceptional about the story and setup so far. Then again I really enjoyed Inspector Montalbano when it was on TV so perhaps Italian TV is good at cop series?
