where the detective died (potential spoiler)

I think I overlooked something and would appreciate it if someone would fill me in. After the explosion in Mrs. Tanaka's house, the third corpse is identified as Nogami. But I thought Nogami went to Nishino's to question him? How did he end up in the neighbour's place?

My guess the killer took him there.

That's plausible, especially since that neighbour wasn't too fond of the killer. He may have seen an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.

The creepy guy knew his neighbors were onto him when he caught Mrs. Tanaka speaking to the detective while he was taking out the garbage.
