Bloodborne.

Can I pick both though? Dark Souls III is awesome as well.

Which do you pick? You are asking after all the DLCs for Bloodborne have been released though. Who knows how epic the Dark Souls III DLCs will be?

reply

Disappointed that Bloodborne 2 has not been announced yet. Isn't this news long overdue, given the game's rampant popularity?

I don't think there will be another Dark Souls or Bloodborne game directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. I think that is a good thing though to be honest. I am all up for another type of game rather then getting burned out on Souls games.

Have you played Dark Souls III yet? It plays a lot like Bloodborne while not quite as fast and with no health regen.

reply

I bought DS3 on launch day but haven't played yet. So many games I'm in the middle of- Bloodborne among them. No health regen?? Yikes...didn't know that.

I know the well has somewhat run dry with this genre, but I wish they'd make one Bloodborne sequel. I think the game deserves an encore. If it's without Miyazaki, so be it, but even if it was half as good as Bloodborne, I think most fans would be quite pleased.

I think Dark Souls 3 is much better. Its deeper, has better class options, and build opportunities. I have 5 characters on DS3. I only had one on Bloodborne, and I only played through the game once, and felt very little need to go back to it. Dark Souls 3 feels like a true RPG, Bloodborne just felt like a hack n slash game.

I really like Bloodborne, but in no way is it better than DS3.

I respectfully disagree about Dark Souls III being that much better than Bloodborne. I personally liked the lore, music, bosses and atmosphere better in Bloodborne. Dark Souls III is so similar to the original Dark Souls and feels like the same old in certain areas with improved graphics. I like Dark Souls III, but grinding for covenant items is not fun vs. the chalice dungeons Bloodborne offered.

Dark Souls III is all about the knight strength build as well. It out powers every other class starting off. We will see when the DLC comes out for Dark Souls III.

reply

Is the knight strength build similar to the previous Souls games? I'd like to know, as I haven't gone far in those games.

I know the knight starts off with good stats in this Dark Souls. You start off with a good amount of health and you can get your strength/dex to 40 quickly without having to waste that much time.

I was a pyromancer/knight hybrid in the original Dark Souls and I started off as a Pyromancer in this one.

Thanks for the info. Will try it out! Still waiting for a sale on the Old Hunters DLC before pouncing.

Bloodborne by far..

Gameplay in general:
-The Bloodborneesque fast fighting system does not work well with the Dark Souls game mechanics.
-The enemies have to many combo attacks and damage way too much.
-The weapons attack motions are simplified contra Dark Souls II.
-The shield skill system is downright rotten.

The amount of glitches and bugs is beyond belief:
-Hitting enemies without them taking damage.
-Pressing roll with plenty stamina and yet your character does not move.
-Characters get stuck in graphics and often can run over small obstacles.
-Graphic color glitches occur often.

Invasions and Multiplayer:
-Invasions occur in almost every multiplayer sessions.
-Hard to hit invading players, but they have no troubles hitting you.
-Penalties on potions, which makes your helpers helpless.

Characters and design:
-All the characters faces look alike, hell, even the females look like males.
(Evident in intros to fights where your character gets a close up).
-All the characters and armor designs are subpar to Bloodborne and especially Dark Souls II.

I would recommend Bloodborne or Scholar of the First Sin over Dark Souls 3.

-Played on PS4 system.

reply

Personally I'd pick Dark Souls 3, but both are very good.
