Decent so far

this is a pretty decent series so far (i'm up to season 2 episode 3...)

good acting, well shot for a TV show and, Clair Foy, the actress who plays the queen is surprisingly compelling...

I usually don't watch TV shows as I dislike the constant tedious barrage of information and incident, nevermind the poor directing and padded stories, but this is one of the rare exceptions...

I like how they show how purely symbolic and powerless the royals are, but i wonder what it will be like in latter episodes and seasons as celebrity culture takes over Buckingham Palace...

The biggest test of the series will be how they handle Diana... I wonder if they'll be able to keep the somewhat neutral tone, while being still shot from the perspective of the Crown/Queen, or if it will be overtaken by celeb worship...

I like that they have resisted taking a too satirical or judgemental view of the Crown, as well as resisting making the royals seem like heros or smart... The naturaliatic approach is more effective in showing how anachronistic the idea of the Crown is, especially as the Empire dis-integrates...
