Edgerton was Incredible

Wow. All the performances were great, but his was one of the best I've seen in recent years. My favourite thing about it was there wasn't any one thing that made it great. It was just so rich and authentic from first scene to last. Definitely a performance that'll stay with me for a while.

I just watched the film this evening and I was completely captivated by him. He deserved an Oscar nomination.

Yep for sure. I'm kind of disappointed the movie didn't get a nomination for best picture either. I tend to enjoy biopics and historical dramas that are based on true stories, but this one was in a league of its own. Stunningly well made and powerful in its simplicity. I've actually enjoyed all of Jeff Nichols movies. I hope he keeps working with Edgerton, and I can't wait to see what he does next!

I agree. Both leads were excellent but Edgerton caught be by surprise - I was only vaughly aware of him in Australian sidekick roles. I thought the quite intensity of his performance was perfect and liked the way his character didn't fight back in the usual (fist swinging) way but absolutly refused to give up.
