kinda disappointed

just noticed that backing up the campaign - i dont get to own the content but for 3 months, which is kinda sad.

i was really expecting the series to be funny but ... didn't happen. i dont know what the point of this series is ... to mock the fans who attend conventions ?

the handicapped people chase was not even remotely funny. i didn't find it offensive either, just not that funny, but maybe that's just me that i don't think it's funny to make fun of handicapped or disabled people.

the only part which provoked a cool laugh was when he started sipping the coffee on the laptop. after that ... kinda boring until the last episode - doll faced.

Doll faced was funnier than all previous episodes combined, which considering that you got like ... 9 minutes episodes, it should not be that hard for ALL of them to be funny. It's not like you're trying to provide laughs for 40 minutes.

kinda sad to see so many known actors in the movie, yet the quality of this show is just not there. 3 mil $ wasted .

Sorry Alan.

yeah... it just wasn't what I was expecting from such talented people. we've been waiting since day one of the indiegogo campaign. it wasn't horrible, pun intended in both senses of the word. it got a little better the further into it we got, but yeah, kinda disappointed.

Yes unfortunately I think a lot of this has missed the mark. I don't consider myself to be a critic or have a deep knowledge on the subject, but this is my option of what I've seen so far. I also just want to aknowledge first that everyone must have worked very hard to bring this together and overall I'm enjoying what I'm watching...

You can clearly see that these episodes have been produced with an eye to making larger cuts for TV, so they all feel a bit short and inconclusive in their own right. It might have been better not to pitch it or cut it as 12 episodes and make the longer ones work better.

Some of the jokes are definitely at the fans expense, and they rely on many of the stereotypes they said they were trying to avoid (fat bearded mid 30s comic book guys much?) maybe these just happened to be backers who forked out the dough to be in the show, but who knows.

And where is Nathan Fillion? He had more screen time in the indiegogo campaign! I thought the point of this was to reunite the two on screen for the first time since firefly but they have yet to be in the same room.

Also, where's the ship? Apart from a few split second glances of Spectrum, there's no sign of the doomed series that sparked the whole plot. You should have watched Galaxy Quest to see how you should have opened the show.

On the plus side, Alan Tudyk is very watchable and Mindy Sterling was brilliant IMO. It has made me laugh and the cameos have been great to see. I want more of Nolan North on my screen and Michael Dorn is oozing class throughout his appearance.

Just a note, the final 3 episodes were a huge improvement, really enjoyed them.

It was announced during the NYCC 2015 panel that the 90 days rental period is no longer a thing for backers. We get to keep season 1 'forever'.

So far I've only been able to check out episodes 1 - 4 but I've enjoyed what I've watched so far.

It's not mindblowing in any sense of the word, but it was entertaining and that's really all I expected to get out of it. And to agree with a poster above me, Tudyk is very watchable in almost everything he does, even if it sucks. But I don't feel like that's the case here.

I agree, the reason to watch this is that "we" like all these people so much, it's not that the content itself is so original or funny. It reminded me a lot of Brent Spiner's Fresh Hell, there too, the hook was being a fan of Spiner, not that the show itself was all that great.
I guess good writing is very hard to come by. Maybe the second season (if they get that far) will be better.

The show is great and those that don't find it funny must have issues laughing at themselves... It is full of excellent stabs at stereotypes and social/political stupidity.

The retarded episode was not making fun of handicapped people at all and those that thought it was are fools, it was highlighting how the meaning of the word retard(ed) has been so badly corrupted socially that it is now taboo, which is insane.

I'm with you @katmai-3. It is now June and I finally got my copy of the Blu-ray in the mail this week. Not sure why it took so long.

I was so very excited for the series because I'm a huge Fillion fan and based on some of the guest stars and premise, it looked like it was going to be more of a comedy based around the show Spectrum. Sadly, it ended up being filled with filth, humor in really bad taste and weird "skits" that made no sense.

A waste of talent and $3M dollars which could have been used to make a more creative end product. I'm seriously throwing this in the trash. That's where it belongs. I too am sorry, Alan. I thought you were above that.

We really enjoyed them, overall, but I have to admit, the humour was often hit-and-miss. Often the laughs came from the "holy cr*p! That's whatsisface from whateverShow!" moments. ;-) That, and when they started showing clips from 'the old series' they were all in.

Overall, it was funny. Not as hilarious as the adverts made us expect, but it was fun. On the plus side, I enjoyed the fact that something like this had a lot more creative freedom than standard cookie-cutter comedy shows. I'd rather have something hit and miss that is still a little different, than more of the same. :-)
