Who is your favorite character?

Of all the characters Eleven is my favorite. Why? one word Mysterious! After the completion of season 1, we were left pretty much in the dark about Eleven's character and even though I'm dying to know more about her, I wouldn't want the answers revealed too soon and diminish what I find most appealing about her.

Among other aspects of her character that I find appealing is the look of wonderment on her face, each time she experiences something new. Her shyness is one of her most notable traits and I love the contrast between her quiet nature and feisty disposition. Most everything about Eleven remains a mystery, I wonder what we will learn about her in Season 2?

The Duffer's and Millie have definitely created an Iconic and Lovable character.

I concur with Eleven. Your second paragraph in particular sums it up pretty well. I like how she has a good heart despite all the mistreatment, and I'm always fascinated when characters experience normal life for the first time.

Second choice would be Hopper. On the one hand he's kind of a throwback to the gruff, hardened leading man, but at the same time there is a truly damaged person behind that front.

I really like Hopper also. Not so much in the beginning, due to his cavalier attitude, but he redeems himself over the course of the story even before we know much about his tragic past. He's one of my favorite characters for sure.

It seems like that's the experience everyone has with Hopper. Not quite sure about him in episode 1, but that first impression erodes over the season. Although much like in the case of Joe Keery, I feel like what I've seen from David Harbour in interviews and whatnot makes his character more likeable by association too.

reply

I knew very little about David Harbour before Stranger Things. I've seen him in other films but no major roles, and I think this is his best work from what I've seen so far. He seems really passionate about his role as Hopper and it definitely shows on the screen.

Speaking of Jonathan, I listed him as most underrated character. I really like Jonathan, very interesting character, well written and well performed.

I love all the kids (Steve, Jonathan, Nancy included), and Winona as Joyce is great, but I’m partial to Jim Hopper. He’s a genuine mix of really-cares-meets-rough-around-the-edges. There’s just something about him.

Kali was probably my favorite character in Season 2 because I found her character interesting. I liked her scenes with Eleven and how she cared and looked out for her. Plus her powers were cool. Her gang was super lame though but I hope for Kali comes back in Season 3.

reply

Do you really like Kali or did you pick her because a lot of people don’t like her or the episode she was mainly featured in?

Personally while I think she may care a little for Eleven I think she primarily wanted to use her and tried to encourage her to murder in cold blood to bind Eleven to her and group. At least that’s one way to interpret her character and motivations towards El.
