History buffs: recommended reading?

I'm assuming this show is about as historically accurate as the latest "historical" pieces by Quentin Tarantino and probably makes lovers and scholars of history cringe a little or a lot (depending on their enjoyment of the piece in general).

But, if I can alleviate your stress a bit, historical-type people, the show has made me quite curious about the real Knights Templar and their history (and this time period). Can anybody recommend some reading material so I can learn a little more? Or a podcast or something...?
