The Bumbles, boring and inaccurate.

They are extremely samey, with little going for them as characters beyond her picking on him. Also, if this is a prequel to OLIVER TWIST wasn't Bumble unmarried and wed Mrs Corney during the events of the book, not beforehand?

reply

They are very boring. I hate them and Mrs. G.

reply

I don't think they add much to the series, other than to underscore that nobody in this program is "nice" except the Cratchits. (Would it have killed them to add at least one "useless" character that was nice?)

The series obviously doesn't observe the chronology of Dickens's work.

I'm the clever one; you're the potato one.

Or perhaps that little thing is the clue? An incongruous character amongst the set. Perhaps she's the murderer, she's found out, sent to be hanged, living Bumble to tie timself to Mrs. Corney

I think they're a boring waste of time. We know he gets the job!

Surely not even the most whimsical Dickens fan wants to see the origin story of Tiny Tim’s crutch? Well here it is anyway. Want to see Mr Bumble move to the next round of interviews (Judges’ Workhouses, I believe) for a job he’s obviously going to get? You don’t? LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-Dickensian can’t hear you!

Clearly the Murder, Babarys and Havishams are the more interesting storylines, but we just waste time.

reply

He gets the job but will the job be all that they believe it to be?

reply

Guess not. lol Oliver showed up at this orphanage instead. Looks like the Bumbles are heading for poverty a little earlier in this version.

reply

I think they were meant to be the comic relief, maybe the jokes/situations didn't get funny enough.
