Rape is rape. The idea that no one would watch that is disturbing because it's not even about the act and revenge anymore. Sick *beep* looking to watch a hot chick in distress.

also men and women are not the same. its not equal. who cares if a male gets raped? viewers wont have as much sympathy because we assume he is mentally stronger than a woman. also the revenge is not as appealing. the spit movies work because the perceived weaker female takes revenge on the stronger men.
rape is rape but the entire themes and dynamics of the spit movies are based on man vs girl. it just wouldnt work in the same way.
also look at the movie cover artwork of the 4 spit movies. its selling sex as much as as it selling violence.

I have to disagree with you. I'm a big fan of the revenge movie genre, whether the person getting revenge is weak or not. For example, I enjoyed John Wick. The dude is avenging his wife's dog and he's a badass, the guy who terrifies the boogeyman. Weakness is irrelevant here.
what if the man was rapes and sexually assaulted by a group of women? Then he gets his revenge. Y killing them horribly?

The original 1978 ISOYG was going to be titled "Day Of The Woman" because the entire series is entirely about a woman becoming stronger through trauma and taking a useless law system into her own hands. Part 3 specifically made that clear, admonishing "do-gooders" and people that trust the police.
Like the "Death Wish" series was about a family MAN taking the law into his own hands after trauma, the ISOYG series is about a WOMAN taking the law into her own hands.
What difference does it make? With all the gender flopping going on these days,
the Death Wish series could easily be flipped into a mother going vigilante after trauma. ISOYG or Death Wish should not be exclusive to gender.
Or at least include domestic violence against men which is more common.
