Why are writers so lazy as to either create suspense through stupidity or by continuing to re-use vastly over represented tropes (tripping on a rock, so on)....

Come on, writers, get a bit creative...there are many, many ways to create suspense that does not rely on stupidity or the completely unbelievable....
