So Vanessa doesn't have to apologize?

For telling Jills young kids a bunch of inappropriate things that they then repeated? Ok...

That bothered me too.

I didn't look at that way. Vanessa initiated the socio-political conversation because the kids were wasting food. Upper (and middle) class American kids live incredibly sheltered and privileged lives. When done correctly, giving them a dose of "reality" won't kill them, just get them thinking. I'm kind of surprised Jill's kids hadn't already heard of many of those topics. Even as toddler I would watch the news with my parents and ask endless questions. The only time they really hesitated was when the Jonestown kool-aid massacre came up. I wouldn't drink kool-aid for months after that --just too young to learn about cyanide.

Heck at five my daughter started a kindergarten protest first over "noodle necklaces" and then "dry bean Mosaics" Declaring "to use so freevouslessly is to mock and diswespect the the hungry " I am happyto report her speech has cleared up but she is still passionate about schools not using food for craft projects. And even has spoke at school board meetings

Your daughter sounds very bright and sensitive and at such a young age, too. I agree with her about using food in art projects. Binge eating contests (pie, hot dogs, etc) are pretty offensive, too. After gorging, the contestants often puke up everything they ate --what a waste.

One of the joys of living in a civilized country is that you get to play with food. Those who don't approve can box up their leftovers and mail them to Africa. Turning toddlers into angry social justice warriors is abominable.
