Im about 20 mins in so far and...
It is decent HOWEVER, godzilla literally looks mentally retarded. I dont get why they made it look so goofy... i am hoping something happens haha

shareYeah theres a reason. No spoilers. But jeez they still couldve made it look not comical af
sharebut.. up until we saw him on land, it wasn't really comical. and then, it was really just his face/eyes that were kinda goofy.
the film is definitely "comical" on purpose, so maybe that was supposed to get a laugh? or, maybe, since this was an entirely fresh approach to the series, it was a way to shock the usual fans into seeing things differently? who knows?
luckily, it's quickly explained, and things get moving along in the expected, destructive way!
overall, pretty solid entry!
Yeah, just saw it and when Godzilla made his first appearance, my buddy & I were like WTF is that?
shareYou were 20 minutes into the movie and you commented on IMDB? That's beyond sad dude, at least watch the entire thing before saying anything (especially considering the fact that his look evolves over time so you were complaining about a look that wasn't even his final form).
shareWow man...didn't know we lived in your world. So what if he commented 20min in or 20hrs later. I knew nothing about this new film, and sorry, but when he did show his first form...it was kinda cheesy looking. Did his post really affect your life so bad that you had to make a personal attack....now who's the one who's sad.
shareAttacking an aspect of character that is changing before seeing the entire film is a great way to look like an idiot online.
shareI'm not speaking for him on whether or not he knew it was changing....hey I didn't. Ok....lets say the OP wrote that 20hrs later...it would not change the fact that the initial appearance was laughable. Sorry..."tool" (name really fits you), but your initial comment was uncalled for. Run along key board commando...I have a feeling if you made that same comment and face to face to a complete stranger while you were in the same theater, they would be sweeping up your ass along with the spilled popcorn.
shareHave you seen Shin Godzilla yet? If you've seen it you'd understand why saying he looked stupid 20 minutes into the film is a dumb thing to post on IMDB about.
shareIt's not a dumb thing to post about. Regardless of whether or not he was changing, he still looked retarded. Facts are facts.
shareHis eyes looked stupid the whole time. That didn't change.
Those seven years of MacGyver finally payed off
They were just going for an outright animalistic look and drew their inspiration from aquatic animals (and deep sea life in his later form) instead of purposely making him look menacing, that's why his eyes look "stupid".
shareThat's fine but I don't think making a godilla movie where he is supposed to be horrible and terriying and then making him look goofy so that the whole audience breaks out laughing every time is a good artistic decision lol.
shareYou didn't pick up the fact that the film was tongue-in-cheek at times? They purposely made his first form look ridiculous and dopey, in fact they poke fun at the fact that he's a dumb animal when the behavioral analyst can't come up with anything to say about the creatures behavioral patterns asides from "It moves": the film is a satire at how incompetent the Japanese government is during disasters, it's why this Godzilla is never overtly malevolent.
shareBut it's so hard to take Godzilla seriously as you should when he's got big googly eyes. If you're saying it was deliberately funny looking then I can appreciate that and I love the film even more than I already did.

Not really. Everyone is constantly making judgement calls about information presented in front of them. That's how the human mind works. You see something, make a judgement, see some more, make a new judgement.
shareIs blurting the first thing that pops into your head no matter how irrelevant or dumb it might turn out to be also how you act in the rest of your life? Or do you just do that on Twitter/IMDb/Facebook/anywhere else online. Proper judgements are made after an examination of the facts. Not the very instant you see something. Would it have hurt to wait until the film was over to write that? You would have a more nuanced and intelligent statement in the first post if you waited.
shareThis is how you know you guys have never seen any toku ever. Stick to your transformers movies if you can't deal with toku effects.
shareHow about the idiot attacking that idiot?
shareYou were 20 minutes into the movie and you commented on IMDB? That's beyond sad dude, at least watch the entire thing before saying anything (especially considering the fact that his look evolves over time so you were complaining about a look that wasn't even his final form).
That is absolutely correct. You got me good homie!
shareit look so goofy
Shut off your dam phone or get the ef out of the theater, ya inconsiderate jerk.
shareEXACTLY!! Nothing burns me in the theater more than the jerk behind me kicking my seat, and the selfish pr*ck who feels the need to go online, text or take a phone call DURING THE MOVIE.
Do they not realize it is a distraction to other people who are actually trying to enjoy the movie? Just leave the the theater room if you need to use your phone, and return to the show when you're done. How hard is that? You're not gonna miss anything, since you weren't watching the movie to begin with!
And actually, I didn't think Godzilla's 2nd Form looked goofy at all. I quietly muttered, "what?" when I saw him, not even knowing it was Godzilla at all. I thought it might be a lifeform that Godzilla preyed upon, and was trying to avoid being a meal, lol. Imagine my surprise when it stood up to evolve into 3rd Form!

I was thinking his eyes (in his first form) was what made him look so goofy, but i'd say that it was supposed to mimic fish eyes in a way, seeing as he started being aquatic, but it did look odd for not only Godzilla as we know him, but for a monster that's meant to be threatening. But that was my only gripe with the film, if his eyes were a bit different it would work much better.

Yea that first image of "Godzilla" made my girlfriend laugh out loud and me say "what is that supposed to be". I thought his final form looked really good though. Creepy and monstrous.
