Yes, there are some dark themes and secrets, but there's just something about it that is also uplifting. Stevie dropping in and out of scenes with her easy rapport with River lightens things up and ironically so, considering the circumstances of why she is there. Also the fantastic choices with music keep it from descending into total darkness.
