Gibney thinking about follow-up to Going Clear

Alex Gibney may have a follow-up to his popular and controversial documentary about Scientology, "Going Clear."

"I'm thinking about it".......

"It was controversial," Gibney said. "It was almost as if I had let a safety valve to happen, that there was a lot of pent-up frustration. People thought they couldn’t talk about this subject. And I think what happened with ‘Going Clear’ was that it allowed people to begin to talk, which was both healing for a lot of people who had been in [Scientology], and also a relief, and a great kick for people who felt they wanted to say something and couldn’t.

I hope he does and I hope that he touches up a bit more on the exploits and the type of person Hubbard was. That was the only thing I found disappointing with the film is I thought it shoulda delved a bit more into Hubbard the person. Forget Xenu and the Wall Of Fire which you have to be in for 250k before you get to it. If anyone who is even considering Scientology would just look at Hubbard and what he did and how he lived his life and the absolutely BS he spouted, they would not even give it a second thought. The man was incapable of telling the truth.

He might add in more along that line if he decides to go at it, but have a feeling that if Gibney gives it a another go his main focus will be Scientology now. They really went after him. Think payback to the current leaders will be at the top of the menu.

Agree. If he makes it (there seem to be no updates yet), I think there’ll be more focus on, as you say, “payback to the current leaders.”
