6.4 rating? Can someone explain?

First, this show got an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes. Ep. 1 got 7.9 here and Ep.3 got 9.3. So what's with the 6.4?

6.3 now. People are ridiculous and expect every television show to be Game of Thrones now. Meanwhile, *beep* movies like 'The Visit' gets a higher rating than this?

This isn't a fantastic show, it's a serviceable one that airs on a day where there is *beep* all on TV. It's like people would rather stare at paint than admit they have guilty pleasures.

If this show didn't have Katey Sagal, I'll bet the rating would be about a 7.0 but instead, Kurt Sutter shows his disdain for his audience and miscasts his wife in a pivotal role yet again. Sutter is seriously one of the biggest douchebags in Hollywood.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.

 I want to disagree with you, but your statement is pretty accurate.

And then he gets upset when he's passed over for awards.

reply

And he sure as hell ain't winning any awards for the painfully generic Southpaw or this crap either.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.

reply

He was behind Southpaw too? Wow, that explains a lot.

The rating is because of the title and people who vote without seeing the show or after watching half to one episode. But the title has a lot to do with it. Superficial, sure. But this is the world we live in.

If you want to see a portal and witness the supernatural with your own eyes.... ask your God about Living Water... aka tasting eternal life here on earth and seeing the creator face to face... changed my life. Doesnt matter what religion you are. Ask the Creator to see his face and to taste heaven here AND to see visions. The Jewish God Yahweh showed visions to people.... ask and receive... I tell you this much, i have yet to see visual effects as crazy awesome as some of the stuff i have seen in front of my very own eyes.

I don't understand how people can't expect to compare this to shows like Vikings or Game of Thrones.

And i didn't see if it was said but you can take any show and have higher ratings per episode then the series because the people willing to rate an episode are the ones that are watching and liking it.

After watching 3 episodes i agree with around 6.4 rating. And it is fair to judge a new show on 3 episodes because what you think the creators are going to pull thier punchs in the beg. that makes no sense.

The only show i ever watched and didn't like at first and liked later after trying again was The Wire.

Im comparing it to The last Kingdom, which I like much better.

Why 6.4? It lacks dragons and rape.

My wife coerced me into watching this show and initially I was bored and vaguely confused. I probably would have gone looking for something a bit more immediately gratifying after the desultory pilot, but my wife gently insisted that I not forsake a slow starter, and now I am thoroughly happy that I listened to her. The once seemingly unwieldy plot now exhibits moments of force and grace, the sometimes lugubrious dialogue begins to brandish depth and and complexity, and some of the characters are beginning to round into genuine existential dilemmas. Also, as a student of the late middle ages, I'm impressed by how the show uses medieval culture (e.g. the relationship between role and standing in the community; the fluid cosmology and relationships between pagans and the church; and most recently, the mechanisms of the chivalric code) to drive the dramatic tension (even if it often dresses the set according to later periods).

Full Disclosure. I find GoT kinda dull. After an initial rush that petered out without any compelling subtext, I found the fantasy getting thin, and there's just not enough of Dinklage's character to go around. BE has taken the time and trouble to develop thematic depth and currents, and has forsaken the cheap thrills, and that may well be its undoing.

The last Kingdom is at 8.6...and it has neither dragons nor rape(and no graphic scenes). So, not really a good reason for the low score .

Eh, you're probably right, that was a bit glib. Maybe I'm being unfair, maybe I sank into the mud with the people criticizing the show for what it is not.

Way I see it, there's two types of critics: the ones who complain about what a thing isn't, and those who can see the beauty in the thing as it is. The latter are hard to find, the former are ultimately just talking about themselves.

The show gets the score people feel it deserves. The troll scores of 1 etc are also removed from the calculation.

People just don't like the show very much and it got canned now also.

Hopefully Sutter does better with his next show.
