Turned it off after...

SPOILERS

...the kid donated the entire coin jar to charity. Seriously? The dad is scraping for any money he can find and his son does that?

reply

He didn't know what he was doing. He hit the 'charity' button by accident. I might have done the same thing in his place; I never heard of a 'charity' button. Do those really exist?

reply

Agreed he made the error. But he was a little prick though. Hiding the booze you need it t come down or someone that bad die - uninformed of course, the car keys, stealing the money to buy the burger when he know Dad's down a and out...

reply

The kid knew what he was doing. He said that's what they told them to do at catechism.

reply

He didn't make a mistake ... he said they told him to give to charity in catechism ... the kid is just a little turd.

reply

I dont use Coinstar. In my book they are a ripoff because you dont get the full value of your money. (I will probably get a lecture on the fact that they cant do the service for free. I think that the store with the machine should give a full value voucher to spend there)
Nevertheless; the "charity" button. I cant say for sure if they exist. I know that different locations may have machines programmed differently with different "options".
A button that is simply marked "CHARITY" would seem ridiculous. Most people would like to select the charity they are donating to. Who really wants to donate to some unknown entity.
I think the "CHARITY" option was created for the movie.

reply

"I dont use Coinstar. In my book they are a ripoff because you dont get the full value of your money."

That's only if you want cash. You have the option of getting a credit for 100 percent of your money for a large selection of stores, like Lowe's, Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, etc.

Or you can donate it all to charity, like the little turd in the movie.

reply

Well, you missed a good movie....hard to find one these days....mostly boms, cartoon characters from comics, space ships.....this one had heart, a script, good music not rap CRAP....good acting adults and a great acting kid.

reply

To each his own - I didn't enjoy it.

Also the EXTRAs were good wish there were more....I love extras that show things about what you just saw....a great film.

reply

I'll bet you were waiting for the car chase and explosions, and grew impatient.

reply

No, I'm not one of THOSE idiots.

reply

So please explain, what kind of idiot are you??

Seriously, if you stopped watching the movie just because the kid hit the "donate" button, which he said was told by his school to do, then you are some kind of idiot, just not sure exactly what kind.

reply

Holy crap. Didn't like the movie. Get over it.

reply

Well now you're changing your tune. You wrote "Turned it off the kid donated the entire coin jar to charity", which is a lame reason to turn it off. But if you just didn't like the movie that's fair, why didn't you just be accurate in your comments?

reply

'Turning it off' should certainly imply that I didn't like it. Duh.

reply

No, that is very clear, but the thrust of your post is the "donation" caused you to not like it.

In a broader sense, don't you see that it is pathetic to NOT see a movie then take the time to come to its discussion board and post what you did? Fine, you didn't like it, you abandoned it. But there is no merit to trying to discuss a movie that you abandoned way before the whole story was developed. It just makes you look like a loser and a whiner. Some things are just best kept to yourself.

Sometimes I think we're alone in the universe, and sometimes not.

reply

Yes, because NO one EVER has come to a movie's board and complained about said movie.

I simply can't allow you to waste your time here any longer when there are so many other movies being attacked right now on IMDB at this very moment by other fiendish villains such as myself. I implore you, for the good of the movie industry, go now Too Much Time On His Hands Man, and perhaps you can save them too!

reply

You missed the point, you complained about your short attention span! Not the movie. You didn't see the movie, that is the ridiculous part.

Haha nice one st00, as for the movie I think it's an ok watch if you're looking for a well-acted, lightweight drama suitable for teens & grown ups, not minding an overly constructed, at parts outrageous screenplay/plot.
Took me out of the movie at times, EG the father having his little boy coming along when he's about to jump that other guy in his own house - well knowing there's loaded guns at hand, at kids hands, on top of that.

LOL TxMike!!

" . . . what kind of idiot are you?"

priceless.

For the record - I was a little put off by the slow mundaneness of this movie at first - the awesome soundtrack held me - I love Gillian Welch!!

I'm so glad I hung with the movie - it was absolutely real - it is a redemptive story.
So great.
The special features were a great little bit of insight too.

reply

Why is anyone dumb enough to give 10% of their hard earned money to those machines? Most of the time it is more, because they rip you off.

reply

Convenience, my man. Who wants to count out $100 in change? Not me.

It's the same reason I pay $5 for a gross, greasy hamburger that was cooked by some pimple-faced kid. I rather pay him than do it myself.

(Go to a review site if you don't want spoilers. This is a DISCUSSION board.)

good timing, movie is made for 5-year-olds and their retarded mothers

reply

I, too thought the kid was a little turd for pushing the charity button on the coin machine, when his father was desperate for money. But I kept watching the movie anyway, and I thought it was good even though I felt no obligation to like the kid.
