Is Tony Stark a Good Role-Model?

These films, especially this one, make massive pains to suggest that the 'Genius. Billionaire. Playboy. Philanthropist' is, but in reality, this silver spoon chauvinist woman-disregarding sarcastic hard-living neocon war-profiteering Elon Musk proxy would be pretty insufferable.

Are films like these telling us to forgive and excuse such d-bags because of their brilliance?

Seems a bit elitist and morally relative to me...

Tony Stark has grown and changed from Iron Man, one of the best written charcaters in the entire MCU. Yes in the beginning he is as you described but as the movies play out he changes his personality, his business direction, basically his entire personna to the point that he will only follow through with the Endgame plan if the current timeline doesn't change due to now being a famly man.

That is what he cares about most in the world. He isn't even close to the same man he was when Iron Man was released.

But he was born with super-genius and super-wealth.

No-one, not even Peter Parker*, can hope to live up to that.

*As a side point, unless we're bitten by a radioactive spider few of us can hope to live up to Peter Parker.
