I watched this with no pre-conceived notions, just liked the names.

I have no idea what this movie was about.

Someone, Ray Liotta, is a cop of some sort in this town. He attempts to rape Julia Stiles.

She goes to another cop, a sheriff, and explains the problem.

He says that he can't intervene.

He tells her to ask a kid named 'Scotty' over at the Grange (or whatever), and maybe 'Scotty' will help her. She heads over the Grange, sees Hal Holbrook, Anthony Hopkins and some other goofs. They don't offer to help her. They let her leave.

But her car won't start, so Anthony Hopkins and some Viking stutterer, decide to help her.

They get beat up. But not badly.

It's revealed that Anthony Hopkins has a vague hate for Ray Liotta, (Liotta MAY have something to do with Hopkins' daughter's death. Maybe not.)

They hike into the woods. Get ambushed. Ray Liotta dies and they all drive back to town.

This movie didn't make any *beep* sense. Please someone tell me what I was supposed to get out of it.

How funny, just finished watching this on demand. You pretty much nailed it. Very much a "fill in the blanks" movie.

This Is probably one of the most straight forward films I've ever seen. Everything is right there on the screen and if you seriously need it spoon fed to you still, then maybe movies aren't for you. You might want to get a coloring book or something instead.

There was nothing more to get...as you have realized. The performances and cinematography were great, but script wise, it made zero sense.
It currently has a 5.1 rating here. I would rate it a little higher, but not by much.
