I found it really hard to finish watching the film because I found the two main characters so annoying. I constantly wanted to tape their mouths shut. Maybe it's because I was raised in an area where loudly bickering when lost, then screaming and yelling constantly when scared solve nothing. Either way, they're the main reason I rated the movie so low.
shareHa! My wife and I couldn't stop talking about how annoying these two were. This could have been much better had it not been for them. Or at least a different male lead. The girl did a pretty good job as the heroine. So I think maybe it was equal parts casting/script that kept me from rating this better than a 5 (rounded up from a 4.7). Their constant bickering was just too much.
shareHow the hell did their bickering make the movie hard to finish? There's almost no dialogue after the first 20 minutes or so. I've seen a lot of legitimate complaints with the movie. This is not one of them.
shareThere wasn't even that much bickering. A little playful stuff in the car, then the couple is separated. The find each other again, argue a little more as the stress of their situation begins to settle in (pretty common in any such movie), and then the real action starts, after which either of them barely says a word throughout the rest of the film.
It's obvious that you didn't even try to finish the movie because well before the halfway point the man's dialog is reduced to "mmmpphhhh, ggggggbbbbrrr" as he agonizes over his leg, and the girl doesn't even really have a single unnecessary word of dialog once it shifts into Act II. Let's not forget that she spends the entire last third of the movie alone and says almost nothing at all.
It's sort of like me saying that I had a hard time finishing Pulp Fiction because the characters spent too much time talking about foot massages...
