With WCW beating the WWF in the television ratings during mid to late 1996, Vince McMahon decided that a new television show on Saturday Nights could help boost viewership. The show, known as "Shotgun Saturday Night", would target older wrestling fans while taking inspiration from ECW.

Shotgun Saturday Night originally took place inside unique venues that differed greatly from standard wrestling shows. Nightclubs, train stations & bars were used to give Shotgun a very different look and feel with most early shows happening in New York. The syndicated show would also air late at night, and superstars who appeared on the 1997 program included Mankind, Triple H, Bret Hart, The Undertaker and The Rock. This video takes a look at every show that took place inside unconventional venues (the first 6 episodes).
