How did people not like this movie?

The criticism of this movie mostly comes off as people not liking the movie because due to one major reason the casting / character design. Although I can understand some peoples disliking Rob Zombie for putting his wife in his movies the other actors did a pretty decent job for the concept of the movie which was just a horror movie not a drama or anything that calls for emotion outside of being scared.

In a time where most horror movies are jump scares torture porn it's nice to see that there's a director that's willing to go back to 70's / 80's horror ideas and bring back a slasher type movie. In my opinion the characters were interesting enough for a first installment of a franchise type movie. The Nazi midget. The weird European tall guy and his sex friend were interesting character types. Sure the brothers with the CHainsaws were kind of lame but the last "Head" was a very interesting character.

A lot of people don't like Zombie's redneck trash movies. He should go back to making music. He was at least semi decent at that. I also really hate the way he tried to remake and made an utter abortion of my favorite slasher series Halloween.

I really liked the film but I can see why others might not as its all about the atmosphere and vibe rather than character and plot. But that's not incompetence on the director's part, that's a deliberate choice. Rob Zombie makes films that evoke the 70s exploitation era and I think he does a masterful job of recreating the feel of those films. Whatever you think about his work he always manages to create visually memorable scenes and iconic characters in each of his films. Doom Head here is another iconic character and Richard Brake is an absolute revelation in the role. Plus there's a psychotic Nazi dwarf in the film, what's not to like about that?

chrisderda, IMDB is full of pathetic haters and fanboy who suck the dick to fake buffon like Mike Flanagan or James Wan for pathetic and politically correct ghost stories, but there are many people who loves this movie, for exampre, the comments on amazon, in the dvd board are positive.

today many pathetic idiots enjoy seeing the usual ghost story a copy of the other
