Books were better

Back in the 90s, a trilogy of books telling Han Solo's backstory were written and published, and from what I've heard, the stories were very good and stayed consistent with both the Star Wars universe and made sense as to who Han was, and how he became the smuggler we got to meet in Episode IV.

One thing nobody is talking about with this lame-ass movie is, they had a perfectly good backstory available for Han in the form of those books; but because KK demanded they de-canonize the EU (and the cheapskate bitch didn't want to pay royalties to the book authors) we got the story we did, and it made a lot of Star Wars Fans (who were already upset with TLJ) turned off and extremely uninterested in Disney's interpretation of Han's background.

I mean, imagine you just watched one of your best friends get murdered at a theater, and saw their corpse desecrated onstage. Then you hear in advertisements they're gonna do a similar show in a few months for another one of your best friends instead of honoring them...well, chances are you're not gonna attend the next show, or any others that theater is showing, now that they've betrayed your trust.
