Far cry 3 or far cry 4

For me,I preferred 3.
Better story. Min is a great character but he isint in it long enough. Vaas,albeit should have been the main bad guy,was a fantastic character and he had a bigger presence in 3 then Min had in 4. 4 story is quite poor in my opinion,I know vast majority play these games for the free roam aspect of the game but at least 3 had a good story to go along with the great gameplay.

Gameplay in both is really enjoyable. Outposts is the standout for me. And 4 added forts to the mix which are tough if you take them on without taken out the respective 'boss' for each fort. The use of bait,attracting a bear,tiger or a mighty honey badger,to attack nearby enemies was a good touch.
There is lots to do in the game,a lot of side missions. The hunting missions are really good too which you will need to do to upgrade your kit. The map is huge and because of the location of the game you get to see a lot of impressive visuals. The Himalayan missions are standout for me.

Overall a very enjoyable game,just don't expect a great story. That's the only downside

4 for me. I'm really surprised that most people liked the story of 3 better, I thought it started good but slowly got stupid and it kind of ruined the game for me by the end. The fact that your character was voiced by the worst actor in the whole game didn't help either. Strangely enough its the same in 4 but he doesn't come across like as much of a douchebag/pussy as Jason. I'm also a big fan of Lost so Naveen Andrews radioing me what to do seals the deal for me haha

I liked 3, but for me 4 is far better. I have replayed it 4 or 5 times now and the fact that you can change how the story goes, to some degree, is what makes this one better. Also the free roam and side missions are much better. The one thing that does get on my nerves though is the animals and there resistance to death by bullets. Seriously? Full magazines or more from almost any rifle, with the exception of the Z93 and AMR, to kill even a badger?!?! WTF?? Yet, 2 arrows will drop a tiger? Also, the max range of a couple hundred meters for any of the sniper rifles is a little ridiculous and nowhere close to being realistic.. The Shanri La missions are irritating and not worth playing except for the first 2 to unlock stuff. The way the colours flash in those missions I thought were going to cause me to have a seizure... Being able to reset all the outposts and fortresses after you have completed the game is an even better bonus. Only wish you could reset the entire game and replay it with all the skills, weapons and upgrades still intact...

Far Cry 3; better story, better villains, better development, better everything actually. 4 is good as well, but 3 is more fun to play through imo.
