Good Plot but dissapointed by the lack of talent diversity.

I just saw the latest Underworld, the plot was the best in my opinion since part 2. I did not see one black actor during the entire 90 minute film duration. Very frustrating to see fictional stories which has a cast of actors that look all the same. I have always felt that Underworld casting lacked diversity. No black, asian, or hispanic vampires or lycans in 2017. Only a few a death dealers in the ealier versions. British producers & directors need to bring more diversity in their movies and shows.

reply

Unfortunately I noticed that as well. They speak of Vampires and Lycons in the context of 1500 years, yet no Black or Asian members represented within this movie.

reply

Thank you AUGUSTALLEN!! The lack of diversity speaks volumes of the mindsets regarding the directors and producers of the show. There are many talented members of different races which would have made the movie much more interesting. It also would have been more representative of the world audience. This was a missed opportunity from the director & producers...

Check out a Tyler Perry movie.

reply

Really? This is your complaint?

I don't care about a troll who doesn't pay for his opinion telling me how to review movies.

reply

I just watched Thirst, a fantastic vampire film from south korea. Not a single black, white or hispanic actor to be seen. Everyone was of one race, and guess what the film was amazing and not every film demands diversity to check a box. This pc nonsense is currently hurting films and really has to end.

reply

Very low intellect from most replies including yourself.Koreans are all the same race of people. In the Country of Korea, there are not black, white, hispanic koreans, just koreans. In the US & England, the country is made up of many faces & many races. The pc as many of you refer to will not stop, it is necessary to break down the supreme evil belief that you all have within yourselves. The way of things must & will change & until you all start to realize that. We will continue to have this conversation and worse for many generations to come. You all are so predictable, so rehearsed.

reply

You argument is based on the notion that diversity is required to improve a film and that South Korea only has one race in the country. Neither statement is true.

reply

True you say?? based on your limited knowledge?? look at the demographics of Korea, they are a homogeneous race for the most part.Diversity is always required to make ANYTHING better. Let's look at the fictional movie Underworld; the Hybrid (vampire & lycan) is the stronger and faster of either one. Let's get back to reality, You are speaking from a very limited, arrogant, and quite foolish standpoint. You have a singular way of thinking, and are beyond the bigger level of conception. Ignorance is bliss..

The way of things must & will change & until you all start to realize that. We will continue to have this conversation and worse for many generations to come.

Then let me ask you this. Why are you here on a message board, about a film not that many will watch anyway, complaining about this issue? Why are you not out there, marching up to Hollywood studios protesting this injustice? Is that asking too much of you? If you feel this strongly about the issue why are you wasting your time here on IMDb? Get out of your house and off your ass and march off to Hollywood. Until then you really have no right to lecture anyone or call them predictable. Because you are just as stereotypical. Crying about issues on the internet instead of actually getting out there and actively doing something to change things.

Either your vocabulary is very limited or you just don't know anything else to do than call people 'small minded' who don't agree with you. Rather than post here maybe go back to school and learn to spell correctly, just an idea. And then come back and act all high and mighty. It might carry more weight.

You travel in a house? Is it a mobile home? A trailer?

It was refreshing to not watch a movie with diversity shoehorned in. Anyway, one of the creators of Underworld is a black guy.

reply

Lol, "Black guy" you say. Well it must be true and he must be very important since you know his name. Thanks white guy...

How can diversity be forced when this country is 40% non-white? That would be like Brazil pumping out movies full of nothing but white people when damn near half the population isn't white.

How can you 'force' diversity when our country IS literally diverse?

reply

So true "wecarealot", your statement speaks the truth. Many of the replies to my post come from ignorance and bigotry, hopefully some of the recipients of your statement are capable of looking beyond their emotions or feeling offended. You are stating the truth, our World is diversed. Diversity is lurking in every direction, only a person that is filled with hate would use the term "forced diversity" in such a way.

reply

True diversity is never "forced" because it is all around us.. To the contrary, the lack of diversity is what's forced, because you have to walk through life with tunnel vision in order to deny the world's TRUE DNA..

reply

Why are some of posters here crying about 'forced diversity'? Almost 40% of this country is non-white! Some of you are complaining about diversity 'agendas' yet you fail to see how movies where 90-100% of the cast is white is just as much of an agenda! Isn't a bit narcissistic and flat-out inaccurate to even call diversity an agenda when the US is technically one of the most racially diverse countries on the planet? That would be like Brazilian movies being full of white Brazilians when the country is brown as hell.

A lot of white people are exposing their narcissism by constantly suggesting that attempts to include non-white people are somehow inauthentic or calculating.

reply

Except Underworld takes place in Easter Europe and Nordic regions, not the U.S. So your argument is literally useless to this discussion.

reply

It doesn't matter where the movie takes place because much of the cast is chosen well before shooting. This is a fictional movie so the cast choice has NOTHING to do with the film's location. So you see "GoodRed", YOUR ARGUMENT IS LITERALLY WORTHLESS BY ALL MEANS IN THIS DISCUSSION".

reply

Nope. Sorry. Fictional film or no, shoehorning diversity into a location where it either doesn't exist or exists in negligible numbers is stupid, plain and simple.

reply

No need to be sorry about showing your lack of World & Film knowledge. There are tons of movies made in just the way to contradict your feeble minded theory. You are simply displaying the ignorance, bigotry, and narcisstic generational beliefs that have crippled this world.Location of a movie does not determine what type of cast is used, it is usually for scenery or to help keep overall cost down. Sad..

reply

LOL!  Sure, buddy. I guess we can start using British actors to play Arabs and Egyptians again, then. Or better yet, let's have Nazis played by blacks in a WWII epic. You sound like a cartoon, a parody of the reactionary crybabies whose sheer hypersensitivity and idiocy are pretty much the reason Donald Trump is president of the U.S. right now. Ease up on the pretentiousness, buttercup.
