Why is this movie getting such bad reviews?

I haven't paid attention to the Underworld franchise since the second one came out, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I saw it recently after a period of indecision due to the reviews. Finally said eff it and went and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The fight scenes were great, and Lara Pulver and Charles Dance made the film ten times more enjoyable. In fact, the film would have been much more mediocre without them.

It seems that film critics often have a hard time taking horror films on their own terms.

Because it's a bad movie. Selene is that interesting anymore.
I didn't like it at all. But at least this movie ended the war between the Lycans and Vampires until another leader of the Lycans is chosen. Hopefully Selene doesn't come back if they decide to make another sequel.

Why is there always some moron who whines about bad reviews? Like clockwork.

Personally I found it very boring indeed. I really enjoyed 1 & 2 but this one missed every spot possible.

For example, the scene where vampires and lycans fight each other firing machine gun round after machine gun round where the use the bullets to shoot out the windows and sun blast the vampires and at one point they just emptied magazine after magazine at each other and hit....NOTHING.

Far fetched and a sequel too far which hasn't stopped Len Wiseman apparently as their is a sixth and final movie in prep but as this took no money at the box office, it might just pass away naturally.

I never read reviews of movies that I want to see before I watch them. Now that I've just seen it I immediately came onto IMDB to give it a scathing review and 3 stars.

I am a fan of the series and I was very much looking forward to this next installment but I felt that virtually nothing happened. There were the usual plot lines of the eternal wolf/vamp war, deceit and power struggles withing the factions and fights.

I found that only the 1-on-1 fights were given any attention at all, the mass fights seemed to be choreographed terribly with lots of close-ups that didn't actually show you what was happening.

I felt nothing towards any of the characters, no sympathy, no empathy. I really wouldn't have cared if everyone just dropped dead. Or dropped undead. Or dropped in whatever way they do...I digress.

The point is, it seemed to me that the point of the entire movie was contained in the last 15 minutes, the rest was just a boring stocking-filler.

I'm still eagerly awaiting the next part though 😜

Because it's a giant steaming turd. It's an insult to the franchise in every conceivable way.
