So Distressing to Watch

As an animal lover, it's very hard going.

Could we have more uplifting stories please.

What's not uplifting about animals (and their owners) being able to enjoy years more of life ? You do realize that the majority of these cases are the last chance these animals have and the alternative in most cases would be amputation or euthanasia.

I think it's one of the best TV shows I've ever seen. Noel seems like an incredible human being. He also wants to apply these new tools and techniques for humans.

The pets in this show usually have happy outcomes. I find it very uplifting to watch the owner's love for the animal play out on screen. They drive hundreds of miles over the course of several months and spend thousands of pounds to get their dog out of pain or give their cat a few more years of life.

Vet documentaries have become extremely popular in the last couple of years. To make for slick tv, many of them feature vets who treat ALL types of animals. Unfortunately, that often means that the vet will be castrating pigs and bulls without anaesthesia ("That's just the way it's done," he/she explains) in one scene. Then in the next scene, he'll be carefully preparing a beloved pet rabbit to be neutered in the operating room with a staff of nurses and anaesthetists to tend to every little detail. Now THOSE shows are distressing!

I think there's a fair and good mix of good outcomes and bad ones. There are very few actually that end in death/euthanasia.

Most end in a great recovery with a bionic leg; even an amputation is a great result and "uplifting" if it means the animal runs out of the clinic happy, healthy and alive.

I've noticed both on the show and in real life, that animals don't seem to care if they have three legs, or even if they are moving around on an entire wheeled contraption. They don't think of loss of limbs as a tragedy the way we do. As long as they are alive and healthy again, that's an uplifting outcome and there are tons of those on this show.
