Just happened to be a pedo who just happened to rape the child that Alexander Skarsgård character had adopted? While they never said it out loud, that was implied but it just seemed to me like the writer tacked it on as a way to justify killing the big baddie.

Still I enjoyed the film but that part was both unclear and too much of a coincidence.
