a pope praying for death to an evil person

apparently, in the case of the evil nun at the foreign mission
seems iffy, on any Christian theological basis.
but kind of kool, in an inglorious bastards sort of way.

i thought the series was great, as one raised Catholic, but no longer religous.
liberal Cathoics might be able to enjoy it, but otherwise this serious had to be somewhat offensive.

would be interested in hearing what other people from any sort of angle thought of where the pope stood in a Catholic religious cosmology.

yes, in the same boat as you, with the same basic take.

this show was pretty old testament. one of the greatest of wish fulfillments is the unjust receiving justice, which so often is in opposition to the case in the world - pol pot dying in his bed, george jr puttering around painting lousy pictures, ancient henry kissinger treated like a teddy bear, pacelli (pius XII) living to a ripe old age.

this show refreshingly ran right over any conventional expectations.

and lets also say that jude law gave the performance of a lifetime. in real life, most popes are probably somewhat badasses, we just don't get to see it.
