A Feeling of Dread

I don't care for Elizabeth. In this version, she is shallow, fickle and her indulgent concern for money and status is much more obvious than in the older series. For her, a second marriage was just about having money and maintaining her position in society.

However,
I'm dreading the season finale next week because I know how it ends and it's not pretty at all. I'm curious to see how they are going to play this out. In the 1970s series, George said something like, "we drove her to this" and it was true. All through that series, it felt as if Ross was happy with Demelza, he loved her, but that d he would dump her for Elizabeth in a heartbeat.

Aiden Turner plays a Ross who has genuinely put his first love away for good. TIn the scenes they have together without George the feelings between Ross and Elizabeth truly feel like a friendship, not an emotional affair.

I can't wait until next week to see how her death plays out among the main characters.
