STFU All haters. You have to watch this move more than once to get it.

I wasn't blown away the first time I watched it, but it's on cable now and I watched it a second time and got it. This is a very subtle move. The scene with Meryl and Audra McDonald with Meryl in the towel is *beep* amazing. Pretty sure Meryl had a big say in casting Audra who has won like five Tonys and is one of the greatest living actresses today (Watch her play Billie Holiday on HBO). Then Meryl goes up against her in a scene that is written for her to lose and she does and it was brilliant. Don't want to spoil it but wait for the ending. It goes from cringeworthy to triumphant. This is one of those movies you have to watch a few times to really appreciate. Looking forward to the next time it is on Starz.

@Paultimmons, STFU all you haters? Are you 12? Haven't you little gits exausted that "haters" term to death? "Waah, you don't like what i like, so i'm gonna call you a hater!" Pathetic generation. Oh and that actress you praised is overrated. Hollywood gives out awards to anyone...it has too.

If I have to watch it more than once to get it, then I don't want to get it... Once was enough!

Agree. Thanks. I think part of the hate is the long due spanking the millenials get here.

reply

I couldnt't sit through this movie once, let alone watch it again.

If an actor gives a performance that grates on you and makes you cringe, why watch it?

Saying STFU is rude. People here aren't saying anything worse than what critics said about the film. We're seeing this type of rudeness from younger posters who need to learn how to respond to people they disagree with. It's childish.

reply

And you don't think watching 15 minutes of a movie then criticizing it isn't rude? Grow up!

I watch a movie once and move on, unless it's an instant classic. If I hated it yet got through it, why would I waste the time again? More things to watch or do than revisit a piece of do do.

OP, are you a 12 year old?

It's called having an opinion. People should watch the movie before commenting. Buy it's OK to not like a movie or an actor in a certain role. Even if you admire their body of work

I saw it, it was OK, Streep was miscast. She was too old, but besides that just wasn't right.

As mark.waltz said unless it's an instant classic like "Moonstruck", no reason to see it again.

It was very mediocre.

Grow up, you would have been great in the Hitler Youth movement had you been born earlier.

Funny you mention "Moonstruck"; It seemed to me that Meryl was trying to do a Cher impression, and failed miserably. Heck, even today, Cher does a Cher impression and fails miserably.

Heh heh. Here's a gal who does a Cher impression (does a few other divas before she gets to Cher): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOMMXo6XOGc

Meryl Streep is a shape-shifter.
