Shooting it as a reality show was a bad idea
If this was shot like a period drama, it would've made it a lot better. The reality show aspect makes no sense and kinda takes you out of the show.
shareThe show is too farcical to be played straight. They would have had to have toned it down a lot and that would have hurt it. Taking it out of reality altogether allows the structure to flow. And really some of the best lines occur in the interview asides. I don't think I'd still be watching it if it was a straight satire.
