Nobody said you were racist if you think Wilkes is boring, the actors have no chemistry, or any other legitimate reason to dislike that pairing.

But if you're always pointing out to the fact that he's black and calling it "PC pandering", as a few on this board are doing, then you're racist.

Yeah, because back then when the nation was so great, it was due to all the whiny idiots crying about hurt feelings (that's all being "PC" is). Because policing free speech not to offend someone is intellectual.

FFS, even stating facts and citing empirical data is racist and sexist these days only due to all the PC BS. How is that intelectual on any level?

No, what's ruining your great nation is people that put being PC above intellectual discussion and logic. People that (as you demonstrated), are so narrow-minded they jump right to racism when someone other than whites are being "attacked". It's getting pathetic.

Sorry to break it to ya, but my comment doesn't fit one of those from the OP. I was simply correcting someone elses comment.

I wasn't complaining about Peggy's love interest, whining about shows PC agenda or feminism and any lack of "flawless white male heroes". Nor was I saying "OMG Hayley Atwell is so hawt" or even talking about the show it self.

But sure, that proves him right.

Indeed. Unless of course you have more than snarky remarks. Some actual argument about my points perhaps? For example I don't need to bitch about PC in any TV show to know what PC is. And that's basically all I was saying.

As Americans say, I could care less. It's not my problem, I don't live there. Hence there is no need to bitch about it. I still enjoy peeking over the wool some people here have over their eyes when it comes to their little ideological "faux pas". ;)

I was making a joke how people use "I could care less" when they mean to say "I couldn't care less". I used it correctly, because I really don't care about how some TV show is projecting PC culture. But yeah, believe anything you want.

Guilty as charged on the "Boobz" comment. I resemble that remark, having posted about that many a time. What can I say? My only defense if that her body reminds me of my wife 20 years ago before children & 'middle ageness' took their toll on her. Haley is just a classic beauty.

Now, regarding the "PC Agenda", I'm NOT racist. With that said, it sure does seem a little strange that this show & Jessica Jones both have the classic "lets really get people riled up here" white girl/black guy relationship thing going on. To me, it just seems so forced, as if they're just sticking it all in our face because they know it makes a lot of people uncomfortable. I also find it odd that you don't see any white guy/black girl relationships, kisses, or sex scenes on any of these shows. Of course, JJ had to do the gratuitous black guy anal sex on a white girl thing too in their comic & then a pretty much soft core porn scene in their show. What the **** was that all about? Sure seemed like they were sticking up a big middle finger to conservative white people there. The kiss on this weeks episode of AC just looked like a lighter, PG version of the same thing. What is really driving that? Who is behind it & why are they so bent on bucking against something once considered so taboo? I could enjoy the shows better without it.

it seems to me that if you feel uncomfortable at the sight of an interracial relationship, some time should be spent looking within to figure out why. i can see why many don't want to do that though, because then they would have to confront their racial prejudice.

We all know full well that its' been taboo for a long time in this scociety for a white girl to be with a black man. Take a look at the personals on Craigslist. All the perverted white dudes that want to watch their white girlfriends or wives get nailed by a black guy, all the single white chicks that want "BBC". The porn industry & all their big black studs having their way with a white girl. Its' all the rage now because for so long it was considered "wrong". To me it sure seems like the recent stuff with AC & JJ was the "soft core" version of this. Neither of these two shows ever went so far out of their way to show a black girl with a white guy. Somewhere in that company someone is purposely trying to stick that in everyone's face.

Just because its been around that long doesn't mean that everyone accepts it. I know black people that don't like it when someone of their culture dates someone from another race. I'm not saying anyone is a full blown racist in any of these circumstances but we all truly know that not everyone accepts mixed relationships. Its still a little off puting for conservative people on all sides of race & some parts of the country over more openly liberal areas. The North East US is not exactly Southern California. Ideals, values, & the way people see the world is very different across this country no matter how progressive some areas might be. Where I live, theres' a larger population of older folks because I'm in the rust belt & a lot of young people have moved away. They still think like they & their parents did 50 years ago. Have things changed over the years? Sure. Is race no longer an issue for everyone in this country? Far from it. What I see on these two Marvel shows lately is a direct shot right at these people I'm telling you about. It would have the same affect if they had Peggy kiss Dottie on the lips or if Sousa & Dr. Wilks had gay sex. Its' provocative to a certain mindset of people & I'm certain that these scenes I've referenced earlier are aimed right at them on purpose. When you watch these shows, it seems very forced & jarring as the stories could have been done without them, or at least it could be done more subtly so I get the sense of someone's agenda at play here trying to say something & make a statement.

frankly i think you are projecting. it is you that finds interracial relationships jarring, which is why you are equating love between people of different colours with pornography.

the demographic you are referring to above are not the type to watch agent carter anyway. it is aimed at a younger crowd who will not get their knickers in a twist over a kiss between a white woman and a black man.

the reason why agent carter's ratings are falling is because the plot, script and villain are substandard

You don't know anything about me. My wife's friend from work has a black boyfriend. They also have a small start up landscaping business & we are their customer. They have been to our house for dinner many times. They have also come to my place of work with me for a cab ride on the train. I don't have a problem with any of it because he treats her well & is a good person.

Whats' going on with these shows is my personal observation about some sort of agenda being played out & thats' it.

Just wanted to revisit this conversation for a second. I was wondering if anyone saw tonite's episode of "Ledgends of Tomorrow"? I had to laugh because they did the very things I mentioned on here 2 weeks ago & it made me think of this thread. They went for the old Hidden Agenda Hat Trick as the show featured not only a black guy - white girl kiss, but a white guy - black girl kiss, & just for good measure, they also threw in a nice girl on girl kiss with a bi-sexual theme. After all that is said, I have to admit, I wasn't annoyed with it like I am on AC because they ballanced it all out & here the anti-intolerance meassage was more well rounded & by the time they had the two ladies kissing, it didn't feel forced anymore because they would have offened anyone that might be offened by then so that everyone was either really happy about it all or really mad, but all as equals.

But have you ever noticed that no one ever says this when it's a white guy and a non-white woman? I mean how many non-white women has James Bond slept with in his movies? Or how many aliens did Captain Kirk have sex with? Interracial couples are only ever a problem when the woman is white.

And is it no wonder their point of view is become a thing of the past and will be mostly gone within a generation or two? The Walking Dead has a am/wf couple and a wm/bf couple because when the dead can come back to life little things like people with different skin color mashing their privates together isn't that big of a deal and becoming more and more normal seeing that the president is a result of such a coupling (although that might be exactly why some people hate those couplings).

Revenge is the most important meal of the day.

Do people get riled up or are they just sick of it ALWAYS being a white girl/black guy? It's not like it's a novel idea, but media types must think it is. I really don't think it makes people uncomfortable, but rather annoyed by how predictable it's become.

Exactly! If they're trying to be anti-racist and want to make a point, then why not show more white guy/black girl relationships? If they did that, then it wouldn't be so predictable. It's almost like they're okay with interracial relationships, but only if it's a white girl and black guy. It's annoying because it only works one way, according to media types, anyway.

I think you missed the point entirely, because an Asian chick/Black dude scenario doesn't fit the stereotype being presented by the media, who use the White chick/Black dude relationship incessantly nowadays. And no one's saying there's anything wrong with that stereotype, either, but as someone previously noted, why not a Black chick/White dude ever so often?

- 20% of threads whining about "PC agenda" in general how feminism is bad and makes the show lack physically and mentally flawless white male heroes that every show apparently needs

- 20% of "OMG Hayley Atwell is so hawt! BOOBZ!" threads

- maybe 30% threads about the actual show



As much as I like and want to talk about the show, I avoided this place because of what you just stated.

I actually KNEW this was going to be the case. I expected no less.
I just thought I'd pop in at the finale and see what was going on.

Looks like I didn't miss much. 
