That ending... (spoilers)

Wow... what a depressing ending.

I've played this game off and on for several years but only recently did I finally start putting time into completing it.

I loved everything about the game and WANTED more, but at the same time that ending depressed the crap out of me. (Definitely don't play this while sad lol)

But it also fit within the lore, and the final mission driving Max "mad" was perfect. Also, the last mission where you do some classic Road Warrior battling was so cool. I nearly exhausted all of my resources, all my ammo and flamethrowers/fuel and the thunderpoons. The enemies were pretty challenging and it's easy to misfire when you get rammed, just like what happened in the movies.

Also, Avalanche did a fantastic job mirroring the vehicular combat after Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. Everything felt so visceral and weighty when the cars collided. And oh man those explosions were beautiful! It felt so satisfying using the shotgun to blow up the fuel tanks on the back and watching the vehicles flip forward in the air performing an aerial somersault.

I did wish they had a bit more black top roadways like in Mad Max 2; a lot of the aesthetics were mirrored after Thunderdome and Fury Road. I get Fury Road because the game's ending seems to be a direct prequel to the events leading into the film, but I was a little perplexed at all the Thunderdome visuals.

Anyway, yeah, that ending where Max loses everything again in such a horrible way was gut-wrenching. But unlocking his classic double-barrel, leather jacket and the Interceptor were super awesome. Driving around the wasteland in the original Black on Black is uber fun, and the vehicle is super tough and fast. It was a blast taking down convoys with that thing!
