Possibly the most cliche movie ever

The cliff sequence was certainly a cliché, as was the fact that Benjamin (Cusack) was sure to turn up alive after wrecking into a tree, and the girl-pointing-the-gun scene was eye-rolling, but the movie otherwise delivers the goods for this type of flick, highlighted by the lush Puerto Rican locations, a quality cast and an increasingly compelling story. Cusack’s performance alone is worth the price of admission.

And, admit it, you couldn't predict every single detail. For instance, the viewer naturally suspects that the police chief (Guzmán) is corrupt, which turns out to not be so.
