I'm just not understanding what is the point of this show?

It's like this odd boring soap operas like LOST that makes no sense.

Can someone just tell me what is the point? Who's the bad guy? What's the monster?

reply

Right now, the hybrids are the bad guys. They may try to complicate that a bit, but it's hard to get over giving women fatal pregnancies.

reply

So the whole point of the show is to kill off the hybrids?

And Halle Berry is the key to accomplishing that?

reply

Something like that. The hybrids are killing humans so they are trying to kill them(the hybrids) in a quiet way ( public doesn't know the whole story). I wouldn't call her the key. But she does have direct connection with the hybrids and had a huge part when the invasion started.

It's getting really weird now. I have no clue where they are trying to take the show

Yes, it does seem to have wandered well off the path of a coherent, concise story. It's like sometimes, I'll start out thinking, "Chili would be good today, let's make some chili!"

I'll start with some beef, onions, peppers, then add beans (sorry, TX), then start looking around to see what might need to be consumed soon and would work. Tomatoes, yep...some other peppers...yep...corn, that's kind of Tex-Mex, sure...black beans, why not...potatoes, that's not traditional, but ok...green beans, ok sure...pasta, that might be good...and before I know it, I don't have chili any more, just a hodge-podge.

That's how this show seems to be; it started with a pretty straightforward story, then threw in a little govt conspiracy, a little corporate conspiracy, some jealously, some mental illness issues, and...POOF!...it's not chili any more, it's just a mess.

reply

hahah

well analyzed. and yes it's a mess

You seem to be watching season 1 because season 2 is very much an action oriented show. Season 1 was a very boring soap opera full of love triangles with no objective.

reply

The plot is explained via the title: the place of the human between technology and biology. Of course it is just entertainment not philosophy (though one does not eliminate the other) so it is not very deep but this is what the show explores.

reply

that's not a plot explanation. that's a blurb.

reply

I think we are supposed to think humans will be exterminated by the aliens, but instead humans should be worried about the humanichs. The death of John was foreshadowing. Computers control peoples houses, etc.

"The death of John was foreshadowing. Computers control peoples houses, etc."

Great point! I just assumed that the woman she called killed John. Now I'm wondering if that A.I. is the one behind it.

I'm guessing Lucas will evolve and retrieve Lucy from cyberspace.

reply

Despite what my first phrase left as an impression, I tried to answer your question. You asked for an explanation about the point of the show, not its plot.
The point is to explore humanity facing advanced techology and aliens, with Molly having the ability to further the understanding of both due to her two sons.

Plot-wise if there is something unclear, you can ask precisely for it.

reply

about immigration and multiculturalism.

reply

It's not rocket science but it apparently is over your head. Don't watch it.

It really is pretty basic and easy to follow for most people.

reply

oh we got a tough guy here.

reply

I am also confused. Are we supposed to be rooting for the aliens ,the robots or humans? The show is all over the place. I can't believe Steven Spielberg has his name on this TV series. That's just my two cents.

reply

I think they're deliberately making it ambiguous who we should be "rooting for." Do we want the humanichs to destroy the aliens or the aliens to destroy the humanichs? We learning to love Ethan, but Lucy and her replications, without limiters? Maybe we wilkl wish it were the other way around.

reply

I don't think I can ever root for the aliens who trick women into getting pregnant and then kill them in child birth.

WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!

reply

Agreed. Originally General Tobias Shepherd was considered the villian now I believe he is right.

That's just my two cents.

reply

Yeah but where are the Transformers?
