Whats with all the suicides at Piccadilly Circus?

Those were all people David Robey's gang had something over on. They were all being blackmailed for various indiscretions and they could not handle being outed so they decided to kill themselves instead. He actually would threaten people into doing certain things for him and in this particular case, he threatened to out them if they didn't take their own lives. What a scene!
