Most talented actor on the CW?

I don't know if I've can make a pick since I've only watched a few CW shows.

Disclaimer: By actor, I do mean man or woman.

Joseph Morgan aka Klaus from The Originals

Can't pick just one, but on the top of my head, Jensen Ackles & Grant Gustin

Mark Sheppard and Misha Collins are great too.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan was a badass when he was on Supernatural.

Jared Padalecki, of course. There's no Supernatural without him. Jensen just happens to be my favorite.

...........Minutes Later...............

As much as people joke about CW, I'm actually finding it hard to narrow it down. There are some pretty good actors.

Supernatural has had numerous great actors throughout the seasons. Mark Pellegrino. Jeffery Dean Morgan, Misha Collins, Jim Beaver, Sterling K. Brown, Lauren Cohan, Steven Williams to name a few.

The Flash has a solid cast. Jesse Martin & Tom Cavanagh are phenomenal.

Joseph Morgan. Klaus makes you love him and hate him all in the same minute.

Ian Somerhalder. I started watching TVD because of Paul Wesley, but I stayed for Ian.

Daniel Gillies

Henry Ian Cusick (The 100). Amazing performance! He should actually move up on the list.

Paul Blackthorne. This guy never fails.

Manu Bennett deserves an honorable mention.

You really think so? Jensen Ackles keeps on making the ultimate sacrifices and puts the most effort into his roles so to be actually correct, if Jensen Ackles wasn't part of Supernatural then chances are it would have ended years ago.

RIP IMDb.

reply

I agree! Jared wasnt even on list at first. He was actually the last name I put. But I had to give him credit where it was due. Maybe I should have reworded it.

Of course I have to mention Jared Padalecki because he is a big part of Supernatural. But Jensen is hands down my favorite. Jared and Jensen have amazing chemistry. Probably some of the best I've seen on TV. I can't mention Jensen and not give Jared his props. In regards to Sam, I don't think any other actor could have filled those shoes. That's what I meant by saying that without Jared (and Jensen) there's no Supernatural.

reply

Agreed. The two have a really nice chemistry as brothers and I can't remember another team who's been this good on a show.

I don't know why Jared feels so underwhelming in comparison to Jensen, he's a good actor but Jensen always plays the big and important roles.

I can't either. They are one of the best...if not the best.

Hold up...correction: I think Scofield & Burrows are up there too.

He really does. And let's not forget about the comedy. Did you catch last night episode?

Spoiler-ish: I love the "Oh S#*+ What Happened to Dean Now?!" episodes. They are freaking hilarious! He kills me everytime! It reminded me of the Dean Scaredy cat episode. I die laughing every time I see the scream scene. 

I watched it yesterday and today again, I have to say that was some impressive acting Jensen pulled and man, I just loved every moment of it!

A lot of people may disagree but IMO it feels like Supernatural is holding back Jensen from being on bigger and better series and films. Perhaps Jensen is playing safe and staying on the Supernatural ship for as long as possible.

I'd love to see Jensen be the main superhero (or anti) of a Netflix/FX/FOX Marvel or DC series because he definitely has what it takes to do it! 

Oh, I'll post this message on the Supernatural board to see if I can get some feedback from the fans there.

All time?

I'd say the best performance I've seen on the CW is Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor in Smallville. He really carried that show on his back for 7 years.

Runner-ups would be Tom Cavanagh from The Flash (Excellent in a different role every year) and John Glover, who may have delivered my favorite performance as Lionel Luthor, just because of how much fun he seemed to be having every episode.

reply

Spot on man..

Rosenbaum is untouchable given the subtle notes he gave Lex as a conflicted, envious, insecure, yet diabolical frenemy turned full on villain.

Cavanagh gets my vote for the best range in acting; he's been 3 separate Harrison Wells over the course of three seasons. Each version so dramatically different in tone, cadence and verbalization.

reply

It always irritates me when I see comments like "Yeah that actors good for CW standards". Yes, the actors on The CW are primarily all very attractive, presentable, marketable people, but the acting is solid on all of the shows. In my personal opinion, some of the best performances I have ever seen came from The WB/CW stars.

My favourites of all time:

Sarah Michelle Gellar
Alyssa Milano
Alexis Denisof
^the entire casts for these shows are all incredible but those 3 I feel were consistently on their A game (mostly because the writers gave them material to work with, while other equally as brilliant actors might have been given less to do at times)

Recently:

Maggie Q
Grant Gustin
Tom Cavanagh
Calista Flockhart (I don't really like Supergirl at all but Flockhart is a bright spot in anything)

I'm really enjoying Riverdale right now and the actors are all very capable but they haven't been given show-y material just yet as its so early on but I can tell some of them will be my favourite actors on the network (Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes and KJ Apa are great).

Here's an idea: next time, instead of being late, just *beep* on my face-Emma Stone

reply

Actors
John Wesley Shipp
Tom Cavanagh
Jensen Ackles
Mark Pellegrino
Brandon Routh
Stephen Amell
David Anders
Rahul Kohli
Hiro Kanagawa
Wentworth Miller
Luke Mitchell
Robbie Amell

Actresses
Amanda Pays
Ruth Connell
Rose McIver
Peyton List

The CW definitely makes a lot of cheesy and corny shows but they do tend to have a quality cast which sometimes try their best with the content they have.

RIP IMDb.

reply

You absolutely lost me with a few of these, Amell and Miller in particular, but thank you for reminding me of Luke Mitchell. I did enjoy his performance on Tomorrow People.

reply

Stephen Amell is a very good actor but the show he's most known for is just garbage. Wentworth Miller? Well, I really like this actor and in a sarcastic comedic sense he's pretty good too.

RIP IMDb.

reply

Disagree on both, especially Miller. I didn't get more than 15 mins into the pilot of Prison Break before I quit. But that's fine that we don't agree.

reply

Yeah I don't understand the love for Amell either. The man is a beast with the stunt work but other than that he's totally bland. Gustin and Welling are both far better than him in the leads of their respective CB shows.

reply

Michael Rosenbaum.

10 more days.

reply

My favorite is Katie Cassidy. I don't claim to be objective. I also love most of the actors that worked on Supernatural. From The Flash I adore Tom Cavanagh but I like Grant as well. I think Amell did a good job in seasons one and two of Arrow in portraying the discipline and lack of emotion of a warrior that has been through hell. But today the show and his character are parodies of their former selves. Legends is pretty terrible, but Dominic Purcell is still quite fun to watch.

reply

Dominic Purcell without Wentworth Miller is kinda like how the Winchester Brothers.

RIP IMDb.

reply

Yeah, I agree. They go together and they're both great.
