Not as good as the first.

It was enjoyable for what it was but it felt like they just gave up making the movie half way through and just meandered to a finish.

Personally thought it was far better than the first. By the half way stage I'd laughed Far more than the whole of the first and I actually loved the first one.

Definitely not better than the first and no where near as funny as the series. There was no plot, I found most of the characters irritating and I know we're meant to for the lulz but I just found a lot of them cringe worthy, especially Katie with her god awful acting. What was the point of her really? I found the ending really depressing, in the first the lads finally progressed and found a bit of happiness, we are some what meant to root for them in a way aren't we? in this one they did nothing but suffer and no I didn't find that amusing either. Disappointed...

The first wasn't even that good. This sequel however did feel very anticlimatic, pretty glad I decided not to go to the cinema to see it. Neither of these movies are as good as the original series.

reply

Agreed. Liked the second movie, but not as much as the first. One factor where I feel the sequel dropped the ball, was with a lack of likeable, redeemable characters. Other than the usual four boys, there weren't many people to root for.

I bought the Inbetweeners 2 dvd recently and took it straight home to watch it as everybody told me that it was much funnier than the first film. When I first watched it I agreed but I've now watched it for a second time and I can't really be bothered to watch it again in the near future.
That for me is the difference between the two films, the first one had me hooked and I watched it regularly for ages - finding it just as funny every time.
My conclusion is that the first film is funnier than the second but of course that's just my opinion, it seems that the divide between the preferences for either film is split about 50/50 on here.
As has been said before, the transformation of the Lucy character for the 2nd film was a shock and I also felt that Will's pursuit of the 'out of his league blonde girl' was a bit too similar in both 1 & 2.
I don't blame them for making a second film because us fans are still keeping the Inbetweeners franchise so popular that they've got to make the most of it while it lasts.
But now I've watched the 2nd film I kind of wish that it had been farewell to the lads for good at the end of the first film, seeing them all with a nice girl which after all had been the main aim for all of them throughout the series.
It reminded me a bit of the criticism that Only Fools and Horses got for not ending the series when the Trotters got their millions. Instead the characters came back and straight into the same old same old trials and tribulations which I feel is also what's happened to an extent with the four boys in the Inbetweeners 2 movie.

Seriously, how deprived of humour cells must you be to say this is not better than the first?
A "pussymobile" with horific Peter Andre's Mysterious Girl graphics on it, the mere sight of which is enough to make me burst out laughing, the outback desert scene where their hilarious idiocy makes a bad situation into a hilariously awful one, and after all is done, the cherry on the cake, the hilarious punchline when we find out they've only been out there for... how many hours was it? A sweet, greedy dolphin fed big Macs by sweet-natured idiot Neil until it dies, Will's hilarious rape alarm scene - even just the fact he HAS a RAPE alarm!!! - when he finally gets the opportunity to get his end away with the girl he's been following like a lost puppy and gets punished for it, Will's hilarious campfire song, Will's hilarious circle-of-smug-jerks complaints, Will's hilarious asides, Will's hilarious, insightful, extended put-down speech, Simon's hilariously abusive relationship carried out over the net, Jay's hilariously awful, crass, abusive Australian uncle - these are just some of the superbly funny and well-exploited characters and situations that made this a very funny film.
From the first one, I only remember an empty nightclub and some dodgy old broads who take advantage of Neil, a party boat and smug Theo "Divergent" with some sh!t on his smug, annoying face. (Nothing against the chap, he seems perfectly nice as a person, but he does have a smug face you just want to never stop punching, and his smug perfume ad playing in non-stop rotation, especially now it's Christmas time (the golden period for overpriced designer juice) REALLY does nothing to change his smug, punchable image, sorry, T.)

It had some good gags but you can see why they were hesitant to do another movie

reply

Each to their own, I guess.

I thought the second film stayed true to the series and was better than the first film.

reply

I much preferred the first.
