No horror movie should be over 2hrs

When I noticed that at the beginning, I knew it was going to me a snooze fest. It went on for too long about much of nothing. A few good scenes, but for the most part, boring.

The nun was great. She needs her own movie with more of her in it.

I hate that the doubting Anita wasn't around at the end to see it all go down. Would've made a believer out of her for sure.

This running time is perfect. Not just for horrors, but for about any genre films (except stright dramas and comedies). Especially in case of The Conjuring 2, a horror. I was honestly tired of this 1.5h typical modern 'horror' films. And was pleasantly surprised when the runtime of this one was announced to be more than 2h. Alongside its vision and approach, it makes Conjuring 2 outstanding.

Nolan, I love you forever!

Agreed.

I agree the first hour was terrifying, then the film slowed down quite a bit.I believe the run time is 2:12 minutes. I think this could have been cut down by about 15 to 20 minutes. The guitar scene, the whole flooded basement scene, and the very end with the Warren wrap up.

The Exorcist is considered to be one of the best horror films of all time and that is over 2 hours long.

Well, there are exceptions to every rule. I stand corrected.

I like longer horror films, that is if they actually stay consistently good all the way through.
Of course The Conjuring 2 isn't a good example of that though.

The Shining is 146 min, Jaws is 124 min, Rosemary's Baby is 136... there are plenty of examples.

Like I said, there are exceptions. But still, a few out of thousands.........2hrs or less, please.

I agree. I revted a bunch of movies and was looking for one to watch before bed so I picked this one up for ting it to be in the 90 min range. I'm glad I checked the time first though, yeesh. But yes I agree. Esp comedies and horror movies should all be around 90 min. Honestly (and maybe because I watch so much tv and movies lol) I don't really have an over 2 hour attention span. Unless it's like super interesting (this wasn't).

Neither do I. Once you start to creep toward the 2hr mark, I tend to lose interest most of the time. It really needs to be good to hold me longer. As mentioned, The Exorcist was about 2hrs but was a great movie. But other than that........

What about all the ones that are over 2 hours long (Rosemary's Baby, for example)?

(Rosemary's Baby, for example)?
Very boring at times. Could've been shortened.

Oh shut it you ADHD inflicted cretin. Some of the best horror movies of all time are over 2 hours (The Exorcist, The Shining, Rosemary's Baby). Runtime has nothing to do with it, it's a quality issue. The Conjuring movies simply aren't that great.

There was a lot going on at the start, with the Amityville section and all the Enfield events that were reported at the time. Maybe a re-write with the Warren's coming in earlier could've kept the time down.
