The season 4 winner

I was rather glad Addison won since she proved to be quite a contender.

It was like Honey Boo Boo won MAJ...

Okay, so Addison is a little on the chubby side, but Miss "I'm from the bayou and I've cooked alligator belly a lot more than pork belly" has a helluva lot more in common with Honey Boo Boo!

When the judges were making their final decision, I noticed they didn't say a lot of cons about Avery's dishes. So I was like, oh, she's going to win. But then Ramsay said there was one cook who represented the future of cooking in young people (or something like that). Then I knew Addison had won. Her Asian-inspired cooking is futuristic compared to elegant/elevated Southern cooking.

reply

I thought Tossi didn't really look like she was on board with the final decision. She didn't look very happy when Ramsay asked if they were in agreement.

I'm just still amazed at how everyone on this show is rootable for, and how they support each other. This is the most positive show on tv.

I guess I'm in the minority, I thought Avery should have won.

reply

I agree with you, kamakzie. Avery steadily did very well throughout the episodes. Addison was more high and low- she was in the bottom three at least twice, but ended up being the one who "did JUST enough" to squeak by into the next round on those occasions.

I also think Avery should have won. She worked very well under pressure. However, the judges felt Avery's dishes were not as "sophisticated or complex" as Addison's, even though they liked her dishes. They kept saying things like they were good but simple. I think it would be fairer competition for the finals if both contestants had to cook an appetizer, entree, and dessert with the same ingredients. Their would still be creativity for the young chefs in what they prepared with the ingredients supplied.

No. Christina said that about the entree but Gordon said she was wrong. Lobster was much more difficult to cook than a simple cod.

reply

I liked the way she came back so quickly after cutting herself.

I'm disappointed but can't say i'm surprised that Addison won. It's been pretty obvious as we got closer to the finale that Addison was put through week after week even though her dishes were average compared to some of the other contestants who were sent home.

Rumor was the producers wanted a girl to win this season and had to put two girls in the finale for that to happen. Out of these two, i think Avery should've won it. She was consitently better and more creative than Addison week after week. But i really think that this season Kya should've won. And if it wasn't for that stupid cupcake, Kaitlyn should've been in the final with her.

And i don't know what it is about Addison, but i felt like i was watching a child actress portraying a chef rather than watching a chef.

Yup. Having watched Ramsay shows for more than a decade now, I instantly recognize his motives and manipulations. I ask myself, "What needs to happen for Ramsay to think that this was the best episode ever?"

Usually that means picking out the contestant that is the cutest or most sympathetic and then making sure that person wins, overcoming big obstacles like better players. Other times that means that Ramsay forces every competition to be a tie and that each decision he makes is the closest one ever.

I knew the blind chick was going to win her season of Masterchef and I knew that a girl would win this season. It took a few weeks before I decided which girl Ramsay would make the winner, but I finally decided that it would be Honey Boo-Boo.

Yeah, something was bugging me about her this whole season. I think you are right. She always managed to mug for the cameras and say the cutest things at the right time. It did feel like a big audition. And, she won the part.

It was so obvious they were fixing it for Addison. At least twice she should have been eliminated.

Kya never should have but her team lost so they eliminated two from that team and she got snagged in the supreme suckiness of another contestant.
