Did she mail the letters before going into the woods?

Did she mail the letters she was putting stamps on before she went into the woods to kill herself? I never read the book so I don't know if it was explained there.

^ Gosh, that is a very good question that didn't occur to me. I wonder what was even in the letters?

One can infer that they contained instructions on how to use the washing machine--separate colors first, cold water for delicates, etc--stuff like that.

Seriously though, she may have put them in her own mailbox with the flag up, something she could easily undo.

She had one letter which she put out on the blanket addressed "To whom this may concern". I assumed she would have instructed people to mail the letters once she'd been found.
