Season one re-watch (spoilers)

In order to get ready for season two, I re-watched season one and enjoyed it immensely. I haven't read the comics but I am impressed with the concept of supernatural keys. I don't think a bunch of kids could beat a team of demons but it's a fun tv show. I'm most concerned about Kinsey who destroyed her fear since she is making bad decisions like wanting to date both boys at once.

I found the casting to be a little odd. There's a morbidly obese kid, the kid with artificial limbs, an autistic guy and people of color might be overrepresented. Boston has a lot of blacks but most of Massachusetts is majority white. I lived in New England so I thought it was odd to see so many blacks in Massachusetts BUT it didn't take away from the show.

The kids made a few blunders that were head-scratching. When they find Ellie disguised as Dodge, they seem to have forgotten about the transformative powers of the identity key. They also messed up by sending Ellie back to her house with the shadow key when the key should have been kept far from the crown of shadows stored at her house.

I'm looking forward to season two dropping this week. This is another show that I can't stop watching since the lore is interesting and each episode offers new twists. It'll be interesting to see if these kids can stay focused enough to take on the demons.

Yes, this bothered me to no end - WHY on earth would Ellie have even had that key?! [facepalm]

As for all the race stuff - who cares... [shrug]

And what's the problem with obesity, autism and disability?.. That part I find entirely realistic. In fact I would guess there'd be a lot more obese kids at any given school.
