Why wait until purge to make a drive that takes you through a dangerous downtown, when he could have just waited near that guys house a few hours beforehand? Furthermore why not just kidnap him a week before, kill him, and then dump the body on purge night?
shareConsidering how conflicted he was about it, I'm guessing he didn't feel like Purging at all until the last few hours (when his wife shows up).
So it makes sense that he didn't drive up and sat outside the house like a twat.
Not to mention, if he was camping nearby, what's stopping some other Purger attacking him? He would end up dealing with a lot of people instead of just driving upto the target.
Keep in mind, the only reason he was fighting these soldiers and other Purgers was because he CHOOSE to help the innocent people. He could've easily driven away or around and would've reached his target hours ago.
