Re-watched

It's still on Netflix and I was in the mood for a shark film. The first time I watched it the ending left me a little confused. Upon watching it again it was a little clearer. I don't think though after watching it a third time that Lisa lived. In fact I don't think she really was rescued rather she drowned while still in the cage. The coast guard was just another hallucination caused by the nitrogen bubbles in her bloodstream or lack of air. I read somewhere that the film was loosely based on or inspired by actual events.

I just watched this a couple of days ago. I was curious about what looked like only two divers of a supposedly professional Coast Guard underwater rescue team and what they did to deter the sharks.

Good question. I'm not so sure that there was even a rescue made. If that was not just a hallucination on Lisa's part then I would guess they sent down two divers at a time maybe. As far as warding off the sharks I suppose the one guy holding the speargun was enough protection. The film should have ended right after Lisa realized she was still trapped in the cage but something tells me that the twist was something tacked on by the studio.
