Loved this movie. Hated the ending.

Absolutely adored this movie. Easily 9/10. I've been a big fan of John since Swingers blew up. I hated the ending, however. It was WAY too hollywood. But the father-son dynamic, really pulled at my heartstrings. On another note, I loved that the kid wasn't some overly precocious twerp, like most kids in movies are nowadays.

He was truly a kid just admiring and working with his pops. Lovely film.

It may have been Hollywood, but unlike most corny Hollywood endings this one actually works with the movie. Most Hollywood endings give you the whole "you're really just gonna bring it into a nice little package" feeling, this movie actually makes you feel happy at the end that Carl finally got his dream.

Couldn't disagree more.

I liked that he got his own restaurant. He couldn't keep toiling away in that truck all his days peddling sandwiches. The wedding felt a bit too neat though. I think the director/actor just liked the idea of being married to Vegara ;)

I think it was perfect. I only payed half attention to the first 15 minutes, but I get the sense that Carl & Inez broke up because he didn't make time for her and Percy. Once he became a bigger part of Carl's life, spending time with her and then remarrying seems like a natural progression. I saw the way she smiled at him when he dropped Percy off, and hoped that's where it was going.
