One of the worst films of 2015

What a major disappointment. This movie felt like an episode of Girls (minus the nudity) meets a crappy Kevin Smith film. And the Kevin Smith comp is in reference to how awful the acting and dialogue were.

Baumbach did the impossible. He made the smokin hot, drop dead gorgeous Lola Kirke ( Gone Girl) look unattractive and frumpy.

The performances were terrible across the board. None of the characters came off as a real person, instead they looked like over the top caricatures in a student film, all waiting to recite their lines instead of listening, and letting the timing of their banter come naturally.

The only positive i found in the film was the music which was very good.

100% agree with original poster about everything apart from the music.. The music just seemed to be the associates - party fears two and hot chocolate - cpuld have been a lady on loop.

Here's my take

I think I may have just seen the worst film ever made. It's called mistress America. If you are the last person left alive and this is the only dvd that survives the apocalypse. Kill yourself rather than sit through it

Anyone who thinks this is the worst movie ever made hasn't seen "The Watch" or "Spring Breakers."

"Mistress America" is a good film.

Er, what movie were you watching here, where you would get the idea that the Tracy character should come off as a "smokin' hot" girl? She was a somewhat nerdy, artsy writer type and was depicted as such. It would have been weird for this character to be dolled up in make-up and wearing sexy outfits.

Totally agree! My husband looked at my halfway through and said, "What are we watching? This is a movie about absolutely nothing!"
