They should be banned

...from touching any house built before the 1970s. They have absolutely no knowledge of or interest in retaining historical styles or finishes. They walk into beautiful pre-WWII houses that are in excellent condition, just needing cleaning up, painting, and maybe a floor sand, and take crowbars and sledge hammers to all the original floors, windows, cabinets, etc. All of the houses they finish end up being cookie-cutter trend showrooms with none of their vintage charm intact. They are old house butchers.
